Heroin Found in Candy Box, Arrest for DUI and Alleged Pot Smoking at the Waverton

Elmhurst police incidents reported on Thursday, March 28.

Heroin Found

Elmhurst police, responding to a call for a suspicious item on the 400 block of Berteau, found a black flip phone and four small, clear plastic baggies containing a white powdery substance inside a red candy box. The substance field-tested positive for heroin. The cell phone was broken and out of minutes; police contacted the cell provider and is awaiting information about the owner. The items were found at 7:40 p.m. March 28.

DUI Arrest

Philip Elson, 26, 4814 N. Oakley Apt. 2, Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police pulled over his silver Chevrolet Malibu for improper lane use, disobeying a traffic control device and failure to signal at Spring and Prairie Path Lane at 12:46 a.m. March 28. He was released on bond.

Possession of Cannabis

Tony Everson, 30, 8222 S. King, Chicago, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis and possession of open alcohol in public after police found him allegedly smoking cannabis and consuming alcohol in his silver Chrysler Pacifica in the parking lot at the Waverton Hotel, 624 N. York, at 10:17 p.m., March 28. He was released on bond.
