Police: Elmhurst Woman Leads Cops on Slow Chase Through Five Towns

Nicole Evans is being held in DuPage County Jail on multiple charges, including DUI.

UPDATE: Bond for Nicole Evans was set at $50,000 Thursday, Oct. 24. Her next court date is Nov. 5.

ORIGINAL STORY Wednesday, Oct. 23: A 30-year-old Elmhurst woman who led police on a slow-speed chase through Elmhurst and four neighboring towns Tuesday is being held in DuPage County Jail awaiting a Thursday bond hearing, The Daily Herald is reporting.

Nicole S. Evans, of the 400 block of East Vallette, was driving a PT Cruiser erratically in Bensenville at about 11 a.m., when witnesses reported her as a possible drunken driver, according to media reports. For 30 minutes, Evans led police through parts of Elmhurst, Wood Dale, Elk Grove Village and Itasca, ABC7 News is reporting.

The video embedded in this article and shot by ABC's Chopper 7 shows police boxing her in with their squads near Irving Park and Prospect in Itasca and smashing out her passenger window, but she was able to break through the blockade. She was finally apprehended moments later after coming to a stop in a grassy area.

Evans, who was taken to the hospital for minor injuries, was charged with DUI, aggravated fleeing and eluding, aggravated assault/threatening persons with motor vehicle, and criminal damage to government-supported property, according to the DuPage Sheriff's Office.
