Police Cruiser Involved in Monday Accident

Few details available, but the vehicle hit GMS Realty building, according to police report.

Elmhurst Patch has received a number of inquiries from witnesses who saw a police car that had been damaged in an accident on Monday, Aug. 6.

According to a report released Tuesday by Elmhurst police, the police car hit the brick wall of GMS Realty, 627 N. York Road, at 8:56 a.m. Monday.

The black Ford Crown Victoria was towed from the scene to the Elmhurst Public Works building. In a photo submitted to Elmhurst Patch from Elmhurst resident John Eleniewski, it appears a light pole or similar structure also was knocked down, but it is not clear whether that was caused by the police car.

Calls to the Elmhurst Police Department Tuesday for more information were not immediately returned.
