Police Blotter: Solicitor Walks His Way to Europe, Mechanic Harasses Woman Who Refuses to Date Him

Elmhurst police reports June 8-12.

TUESDAY, JUNE 12

Residential Burglary

A resident of the 100 block of East North End told police that someone entered the home between 5:51 and 7:15 p.m. June 12 by forcing open a basement window. Taken was $120 from a small plastic Pepsi container and $100 from a purse that was in a bedroom. Police said they saw no apparent forced entry.

Soliciting Without a Permit

Dylan S. Smith, 20, 106 D Street, Chattanooga, Tenn., was cited for soliciting without a permit at 468 N. Oaklawn at 4:49 p.m. June 9. He said he was selling magazines in order to win a trip to Europe.

Disorderly Conduct

A 14-year-old boy was charged with disorderly conduct/public urination and damaging city property after he damaged the glass fire extinguisher case on the top floor of the Larch parking deck, 175 W. First St., and urinated in the elevator at 8:09 p.m. June 9, police said.

FRIDAY, JUNE 8

Harassment

The assistant manager at Greencastle Retirement Home, 190 N. Michigan, said she has received numerous hang-up phone calls between May 30 and June 8. She told police she suspects one of the residents, who was upset over not having hot water at night for four months.

A woman told police she had her vehicle serviced by a man who completed the work for no charge, but the man became very angry and started leaving threatening phone messages after the woman refused to go out with him. The suspect was issued a no-trespass ticket at 6:16 p.m. June 8.
