Police Blotter: Missing Money and Alcohol Issues

Theft

A man reported to police that someone took $1,245 from his bank account in a fraudulent transaction which occurred in London, police said.

A man in his late teens is suspected of taking a $30 pair of jeans without paying from the Kohl’s store on Route 83 just before 2 p.m. on Dec. 7, police said. The suspect could not be located. He was seen wearing a black jacket and black “beanie” style hat.

Alcohol-related offenses

Police arrested 19-year-old Tay Robinson on charges of obstructing identification, possession of alcohol by a minor and failure to wear a seat belt after a traffic stop on a vehicle near Route 83 and Interstate 290 just before midnight on Dec. 8, police said.  During the investigation, police noticed Robinson trying to hide a cup containing alcohol. When questioned, Robinson gave a false name and birth date. The driver, Genise Hines, 19, of Chicago, was cited with failure to signal, while another passenger, 19-year-old Tantanisha Gipson of Chicago, was charged with illegal transportation of alcohol. Gipson and Hines were released on I-Bonds.

Police were called to the 100 block of South Prospect around 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 9 p.m. on a report of an intoxicated person. Police located Maxx Lozano, 20, of Woodridge, and cited on a charge of consumption of alcohol by a minor. Lozano was taken to Elmhurst Hospital and released on bond.

Just after 3:30 a.m., police were called to the 100 block of South Prospect when security personnel found two underage females had been drinking on campus. The females, both 17, were charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor and released to their parents.

Criminal Trespass
Employees at Luscombe Music, 188-122 W. Vallette, have reported several instances lately of a suspicious person coming into the store and staying for long periods of time while being loud and disruptive. The latest incident was at 1:52 p.m. Nov. 30. The suspect was issued a no-trespass notice and told to leave.

Property Damage
A house on the 200 block of Cottage Hill was egged between 11 p.m. Nov. 23 and 9 a.m. Nov. 24.

A man told police that while driving northbound on Parker at North End, someone pulled in front of him blocking his path.  A man got out of the suspect vehicle and smashed the victim's windshield with a metal object. They suspects then fled westbound on North End.

Someone keyed the hood and driver’s door of a 2004 Chevy Malibu that was parked on the 200 block of North Larch between noon Nov. 28 and 1:18 p.m. Dec. 2. Damage is estimated at $200.

Skateboarders are suspected in the damage of a bench at Liberty Village sometime between 6 p.m. on Dec. 6 and 11 a.m. on Dec. 7. Residents told police they saw kids on skate boards during that time. Police reported about $100 in damage to the bench, which had scratches and scuffs.
