Police Blotter: Drunken Driving and Other Traffic Woes

Reports provided by the Elmhurst Police Department.

DUI

Arturo Navarrete, 33, of Cicero, was charged with aggravated drunken driving, driving with a suspended license, no insurance, failure to signal and failure to dim headlights after a traffic stop just after midnight on Dec. 19 at Interstate 290 and St. Charles Road. Navarrete’s vehicle was stopped as police were looking for a robbery suspect from Addison. Police reported seeing Navarette’s vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and changing lanes without signaling. He was found to be wanted on outstanding warrants. Navarrete was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Zygmunt S. Kaganek, 47, of Schiller Park, was charged with drunken driving and no seat belt after he was stopped in a seat belt enforcement zone around 11:50 p.m. on Dec. 19 at Myrtle and North Avenue. He was later released after posting $100 bond and his drivers license.

Driving Offenses

Alfred Landrum Jr., 53, of Lombard, was charged with driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop at Route 83 and Riverside just after 4 a.m. on Dec. 19. He was released on an I-Bond.

Filiberto Giron, 46, of Bensenville, was charged with driving without a license and no insurance after a traffic stop at Route 83 and St. Charles Road around 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 19. He was released on an I-Bond.

Manuel Nunez, 47, of Maywood, was charged with obstructing identification, driving with a revoked license, no insurance and driving with one headlight after being stopped near Poplar and St. Charles Road just before 6 a.m. on Dec. 19. Police said Nunez initially gave a false name and birth date, based on the results of a fingerprint analysis. He was released on an I-Bond.

Arturo Noyola, 53, of Addison, was charged with driving with a suspended license and no insurance after a police investigated a crash involving a dump truck at Riverside and Monroe around 3:15 p.m. on Dec. 19. He was released after posting $200 bond.

Angela Guzman, 21, of Elmwood Park, was charged with driving with a suspended license, driving with a suspended registration and failure to secure a child following a traffic stop for a registration violation around 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 20 at North Avenue and Route 83. Guzman was released on an I-Bond.

Three people were arrested after a traffic stop in the 400 block of Emroy around 1:45 a.m. on Dec. 20. The driver, Andy Rodriguez, 19, of Melrose Park, was charged with driving with a suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia. One passenger, Jesus Sanchez, 19, of Maywood, was charged with marijuana possession, while another passenger, Chrstian Brito, 18, of Melrose Park, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. A 15-year-old boy was cited for a curfew violation. All were released on an I-Bond.
