Crashes With Charges
Police investigating a vehicle that struck a light pole at Poplar and Van Buren just after 2 a.m. on Nov. 24 located the driver at his home. The man “admitted to driving the car recklessly because he was wasted.” Police found five pills during a search. The man was released without charges while lab tests are performed on the pills.
Another man was released without charges after police investigated a single-car crash at the Lake Street ramp from Route 83 around 3:15 a.m. on Nov. 24. The driver told police he had been drinking and was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, but was released while lab tests are performed.

Suspicious Activity
Police reported finding a resident attaching fake refuse stickers to his yard waste bags around 2 p.m. on Nov. 23. Police did not indicate where the incident occurred or if the resident was cited for any violations.

A woman reported that a “longtime friend” had been harassing her over the past few months and, around 12:15 a.m. on Nov. 27, came to her home, banged on the door, rang the doorbell continuously and knocked over flower pots. No charges were filed, but the suspect was given a no trespassing order.
A gas station owner turned to over to police several counterfeit bills collected at the business over the last year. The owner had no information on when the fake money was taken in, but said he used it to train employees.
A resident in the 200 block of North Illinois reported receiving several harassing phone calls between Nov. 22 and Nov. 25. Police were attempting to locate the phone number where the calls originated.
