Police Blotter: Craigslist Buyer Beware

The following arrest information was supplied by the Elmhurst Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Fraud
A resident reported on May 31 that she had purchased a $1,200 computer from a seller on Craigslist, but that it was not new and unused as advertised. The resident told police she tried unsuccessfully to contact the seller for a refund, and wanted to file a report. An investigation is pending.

Theft
Someone took an 8GB Apple iPod from a locked gym locker at York Community High School sometime around 9:30 a.m. on May 25. The iPod was valued at $60.

Just over $1,000 in cash and checks were reported stolen from a business in the 100 block of Addison Street. The money, as well as other personal documents and credit cards, were taken sometime between the evening of May  30 and morning of May 31. A rear door was found forced open.

Someone took an unlocked Diamondback bicycle from a rack outside the Elmhurst Public Library on May 31.

A resident in the 400 block of West Third Street reported someone stole an Oberweis milk cooler with several bottles of milk from his front porch between May 30 and May 31.

Someone broke into a storage unit in the 100 block of Fellows Court between May 30 and May 31 and took several tools.
