Police and Paramedics Called to York for Student on the Roof

District 205 issues an all-clear at 7 p.m.

Elmhurst Unit District 205 released a statement at about 7:15 p.m. Thursday, June 21, regarding an emergency situation at York High School that caused temporary closure of the main traffic circle in front of the academic building.

Police and paramedics were called after a student climbed onto the roof of La Brigade, York's student-run restaurant located in the west wing of the academic building.

The student in question is enrolled in a District 205 summer school program, but is not a York student, according to the statement.

As of 6 p.m., the situation was resolved and the student is safe, according to the statement. The traffic circle and academic building are now open, and all scheduled activities are proceeding normally.
