Man Makes Bold Attempt to Enter House on Myrtle While Resident is Home

More cases of burglary, attempted burglary reported in Elmhurst since Tuesday.

Burglary

Someone forced their way into a home on the 400 block of Webster through a rear basement window between 7:15 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Feb. 6 and removed numerous items of jewelry and cash. Police have no suspects.

Attempted Burglary

A white man about 5-foot-9-inches tall with a thin build and wearing a blue and white plaid sweatshirt and baggy blue jeans attempted to break into a home on the 100 block of North Myrtle at 2:59 p.m. Feb. 7. The resident told police she heard her doorbell ring in quick succession numerous times, then heard pounding on the door. As she walked to the door to answer it, the man smashed out the glass window and reached his arm inside the house. When he saw the woman, he fled on foot westbound.

Someone pried off the doorknob of the front door of a home on the 700 block of South Fairfield between 5:45 p.m. Feb. 6 and 8 a.m. Feb. 7. Police said no entry was made into the home, but the damage to the lock and door is about $100.
