Man Steals Bike From Elmhurst Library, Leaves it at Church & Steals Another Bike

The thief must have liked the bicycle at the church better than the one he stole from the library.

A man stole a bicycle from the Elmhurst library and apparently pedaled it over to Visitation church where he dumped it and grabbed a different bike.

All of this thievery reportedly started about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday. That's when surveillance video from the library showed a man, "possibly Hispanic," taking a purple Schwinn mountain bike off a bike rack, police said.

About an hour later, a 10-speed Raleigh mountain bike was stolen from the South York Street church. "Left in its place was the victim's bike from" the library, police said.

The bicycle thief was "last seen wearing a black baseball hat with a white logo," a Chicago Cubs jersey, black pants and black shoes, police said.
