Man is Shoved, Hit with Racial Remarks at Metra Station

Police also report arrests for alcohol and cannabis.

Disorderly Conduct

A man who got off the Metra train at 5:40 p.m. Aug. 21 told police he was pushed from behind while he was waiting for the signal arms to raise at York and Park streets. He turned around and saw a man about 5-foot, 9-inches tall, in his mid-50s, 160 to 170 pounds and wearing a blue pinstripe suite and sunglasses. The suspect told the victim he pushed him because an elderly woman was trying to get through. The victim said there was no need to push, but the suspect began directing racial slurs and insults at him. Police said the victim was very shaken and will sign complaints if the suspect is identified.

Jeremy Paul Amsden, 32, 728 Washington, Elmhurst, was arrested after police found him sitting in a rocking chair on a porch of a home on the 400 block of Barclay Court at 4:32 a.m. Aug. 18. He was charged with disorderly conduct, public urination and public intoxication. He was released on bond.

Michael Harris, 45, 531 Van Auken, Elmhurst, and Robert Seybold, 37, of the same address, were charged with disorderly conduct after police responded to a report of battery at 7:38 p.m. Aug. 19. Seybold also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were released on I-bond at the scene.

Kelly McCormick, 24, 21 Palisades, Oak Brook, was arrested and charged with public intoxication and battery after she was found intoxicated at First and York at 12:51 a.m. Aug. 22, police said. McCormick allegedly punched a medic in the stomach. She was released on I-bond.

Possession of Cannabis

Steven Schanz, 46, 400 N. Emroy, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia after police were called to the 500 block of North Van Auken on a report of several individuals smoking cannabis in a shed at 8:10 p.m. Aug. 20. He was released on bond.

Daniel Loe, 21, 144 Golf View, Northlake, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia after police pulled him over for failure to signal and failure to stop for a private drive at 624 N. York at 9:27 p.m. Aug. 21. He was released on I-bond.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Eric Arndt, 26, 110 E. George Apt. 309, Bensenville, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after police pulled him over for a defective windshield at York and Wrightwood at 9:30 p.m. Aug. 22. Police found a cannabis one-hitter pipe. He was released on I-bond.

I agree with you but I don't know if we as just citizen's can do anything to stop that practice. IRead More wish that each cyclist had to have a license, and that it was enforced by laws and police, on the bike so that people could report occurrences and have the person receive a ticket just like a person driving an auto. That would make sense.

I was really hoping that the Elmhurst Police would sound in on this info-I do understand kids willRead More be kids, but if one of them is hurt, that adult driver will need to live with that for the rest of their life-so let's come up with a solution for both bicyclist and cars to be in harmony. I really think that a step up in enforcement in the bicycle laws would help-just like the drunk driving laws-believe me the bicycle laws are just as important.
