Man is Accused of Harassing Woman He Wanted as His Character Witness in Court

Also, ex-boyfriend makes an unwanted appearance after three years in jail.

Harassment

A man who is going through a divorce asked a former friend of his family to be his character reference during his child custody proceedings. The former friend declined, saying she does not want to be involved in his divorce. But police said the suspect will not take no for an answer and continues to call and harass her over the issue. The woman filed a police report for harassment on July 20.

Suspicious Circumstances

A resident of the 700 block of South Swain told police that her ex-boyfriend had come to her home without permission at 11 a.m. July 21. She has not had any contact with him in three years because he has been in jail, police said. She also has received several suspicious phone calls over the past week. She told police she has no idea how he could have gotten her address or phone number because she had moved since her last contact with him. Police said they will serve him with a no-trespass notice.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Carlos R. Vega, 26, 103 Haven Apt. G, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance  after police pulled over his white Mitsubishi Galant for failure to signal at York and I-290 at 6:14 p.m. July 26. He was released on bond.

Soliciting Without a Permit

Jason L. Smith, 29, 4721 Knoll Croft, Trotwood, Ohio, was charged with soliciting without a permit on the 200 block of North Oaklawn at 2:34 p.m. July 20. He was released on I-bond.

Carlos Beltran, 20, 2727 N. Moody, Chicago, was charged with soliciting without a permit at Kent and  Montrose at 6:12 p.m. July 23. He was released on I-bond.
