A woman told the Elmhurst police she received a text message from someone threatening to strangle her.

A woman received a text message from someone threatening to strangle her but it turns out the guy just meant to send it to someone else, the Elmhurst police said.

The woman contacted the law about 12:30 a.m. Saturday about a "strange text message" she received from a stranger, police said.

"The text was addressed to a person named (redacted) and shows a picture of a male and stated the man in the picture threatened to strangle her," police said. An officer "contacted the person who sent the message who related it was accidentally sent to the wrong phone number."
