Man Claims He Was Robbed at Gunpoint, Mechanics Find 12-inch Knife, Man Offers Young Girl a Ride

Filing a False Police Report

Albert Harris, 32, 1013 Desplaines Apt. 201, Forest Park, was arrested and charged with filing a false police report after he told police he claimed to have been robbed at gunpoint at the currency exchange at 683 W. North Avenue at 5:57 p.m. April 9. The complaint was later determined to be unfounded. He was released on bond.

Suspicious Person

A girl was playing on her driveway on the 200 block of North Ridgeland Avenue at 9:10 p.m. April 7 when a black/gray SUV stopped in front of the house and a man opened the car door and said "Hey, what are you guys doing? Do you need a ride?" The girl ran to her back yard and the man traveled north, turning onto North Avenue.

A woman told police she had her 1998 Mercedes serviced at Elmhurst Auto Clinic, 153 N. Addison Ave., on April 7. When she picked it up, an employee told her they found an 11- to 12-inch butcher knife inside the undercarriage of the vehicle. The knife was not hers.

Henryk Marian Adamowski, 56, 2141 N. 74th Ave. Second Floor, Elmwood Park, was arrested and charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to give information after his black Nissan Pathfinder was involved in an accident with a 41-year-old Chicago woman at North and York at 3:20 p.m. April 5.

DUI Arrests

Eric Collins, 40, 2042 Prentiss Drive #212, Downers Grove, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and no insurance after police pulled over his green Honda Civic for improper lane use at York and Cayuga at 5:18 a.m. April 6. He was released on I-bond.

Johnathan Pedi, 29, 970 Cobblers Crossing, Elgin, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without insurance after police pulled over his brown Honda Civic for improper lane use at York and St. Charles at 12:31 p.m. April 6. Police found multiple syringes, suspect drug residue and a burnt spoon during a search of the vehicle. Pedi was released on I-bond.

Robert L. Johnson, 21, 232 Englewood, Bellwood, was arrested and charged with DUI, resisting arrest, illegal transportation of alcohol and driving without insurance after police pulled over his white Chevrolet Impala for improper lane use at Butterfield Road near Calvin Avenue at 11:40 p.m. April 6. He was released on bond.

Nicholas Beckwith, 25, 256 Washington, Lombard, was arrested and charged with DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia after police pulled over his gold Buick for one headlight at Grand and Weigel at 12:04 a.m. April 9. He was released on bond.

Jazmin Medina, 27, 603 Gunderson Drive Apt. 212, Carol Stream, was arrested and charged with DUI, obstructing identification, illegal transportation of alcohol and driving with a revoked license after police pulled her over for improper lane use at North and York at 1:56 a.m. April 9. She was released on bond.

Disorderly Conduct

Vincent F. Sabo, 48, 1940 Elmwood Ave., Berwyn, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after police were called to 183 N. York Road on a report of an intoxicated person at 3:03 p.m. April 7. Due to the subject not cooperating, repeatedly cursing and his high level of intoxication, he was taken to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.

Rahul Gopalakrishnan, 25, 9100 W. Oaks, Desplaines, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after an incident at Clarion Inn, 933 Riverside Drive, at 3:30 a.m. April 8. Guests of the hotel were asked repeatedly by hotel security to quiet down. When they didn't, they were asked to leave, but they refused and things got physical.

Possession of Alcohol in Public

Jaquis P. Stewart, 624 E. 101st St., Chicago, was charged with having open alcohol in public after police saw him walking at St. Charles and West Avenue drinking from a 24-ounce can of beer at 4:24 p.m. April 7. Stewart emptied the alcohol and was I-bonded at the scene.

Dog at Large

Allyse Edenhofer, 25, 643 W. Gladys, Elmhurst, was cited for having a dog at large after a neighbor said Edenhofer's pitbull wandered into her yard and charged her back screen door in an attempt to get to her dog.

Warrant Arrests

Johnnie Simons, 36, of Fort Worth, Texas, was arrested on a warrant out of Naperville for soliciting without a permit after police responded to a disturbance at 211 S. York St. at 3:20 p.m. April 6. Three men said they were celebrating because one of their co-workers had made a good sale. Simons was released on bond.

Possession of Cannabis

David J. Karas, 21, 18W058 Standish Lane, Villa Park, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis after police pulled over his black Chevrolet for speeding at Spring and Jackson at 4:29 p.m. April 6. He was released on I-bond.
