Man Charged With Videotaping Women in Bathroom at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital

Salvador Perez is being held on $150,000 bond.

A Franklin Park man has been charged with unlawful videotaping, a Class 4 Felony, for allegedly videotaping women while they used a washroom at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, according to the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office.

Salvador Perez, 49, of 2538 Sonia Ave., appeared in Bond Court Saturday morning, where Judge Michael Wolfe set his bond at $150,000.

It is alleged that on Friday, May 17, Perez positioned his cellular phone under the sink of a unisex bathroom at the hospital. He allegedly positioned it so the camera on the phone would record the toilet area. He then activated the video record function and exited the bathroom, according to the complaint. That same day, while a woman was using the bathroom, the cellular phone fell from beneath the sink, and the women alerted authorities.

Information from the State's Attorney's Office did not indicate the location of the bathroom where Perez allegedly recorded the victims.

"The allegations against Mr. Perez Are very disturbing," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said. "Invading another person's privacy in such a manner will not be tolerated and will be met with the full force of the law.

"I would like to thank the Elmhurst Police Department for their work on this case, as well as authorities at Elmhurst Hospital for their cooperation."

Perez's next court appearance will be held in June in front of Judge George Bakalis. Perez will be required to wear a GPS monitoring device, should he post bond.

Members of the public are reminded that this complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendant's guilt.
