Man Approaches Student As She Walks Home from School Wednesday

Police warn parents and children to be vigilant.

A white man in his late 30s or early 40s, with black hair and a black mustache, approached a Bryan Middle School student who was walking home from school near York and Quincy at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8.

The man was driving east on Quincy Street when he stopped his car and asked the girl for directions to the theater. She told him where the theater is. He then asked her if she lived in the area. She responded that she did, and the man asked her if she needed a ride home. She told him no and continued walking home.

The car is described as a silver, four-door sedan, possibly a Ford Taurus, with Illinois license plates. It was dirty and not well kept, police said.

Elmhurst police are reminding parents that such incidents should be reported immediately, and if their son or daughter has a cell phone with them in such circumstances, they should call 911 immediately.
