Italian Beef, Hold the Pepper Spray
Portillo's patron gets more than he bargained for in the drive-through line.
Robert T. Hagan, 61, 128 E. Crescent Ave., Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with battery at 2:45 p.m. Oct. 9.
Police were called to Portillo's drive up, 155 S. Route 83, after a report of someone being maced. Police found a victim with a strong chemical odor emanating from him and experiencing the effects of pepper spray. He told police a man who was obviously upset approached him while he was in his vehicle. They exchanged words and the offender pulled out a can of pepper spray out and sprayed the victim in the face.
Officers located Hagan at his residence and arrested him. He was released on an I-bond.
