Industrial Equipment Worth $7,000 Stolen from Business on Larch

Also, company defrauded out of nearly $32,000, two men make off with liquor from Dominick's, 14-year-old charged with bike theft and identities stolen.

Theft

Someone took $50 from the side pocket of a gym bag that was left unattended in a basement maintenance office at Lincoln School, 565 S. Fairfield, between 6:20 a.m. and 5 p.m. July 17.

A fraudulent Canadian company ordered $31,895.60 worth of CDs from Media Distributors, 845 N. Church Court, between May 7 and 25. The distributor investigated the company, and checked references and bank information before doing business with them, but when they attempted to contact them again, all numbers were disconnected.

A $5,000 industrial compressor that was chained to a telephone pole on the west side of 702 Larch was stolen between July 11 and 18. The business recently relocated to 188 Industrial Drive, and the compressor was left behind at the former location. Also missing were three ductile valves, two pipes and one spool feeder totaling $2,000. Police said a large truck with a hitch would have been needed to remove all the equipment.

Two men were seen stealing six bottles of liquor worth $226 from Dominick's, 215 S. Route 83, at 6:10 p.m. July 18. The men were described as in their 20s, and wearing black hats. One suspect had on a gray shirt and black shorts, the other was wearing sunglasses, a white shirt and black pants. They were last seen on camera heading west toward Route 83.

Identity Theft

Someone wrote four checks using the PNC Bank account of a resident of the 800 block of Hillside between July 6 and 12. Three of the four checks were successfully withdrawn from the account. The victim then receive an envelope stamped "return to sender, insufficient address." It contained two checks written against her PNC account in the amount of $3,191.

A resident of Maple Tree Court told police on July 19 that over a period of three weeks, since she received an email from Yahoo stating her server was hacked, someone opened a prepaid Wal-Mart card and a pre-paid Mango debit card in her name. The suspect attempted to access her account at Chase Bank by phone in an attempt to transfer money from her account to the pre-paid debit card.

Theft Arrest

A 14-year-old boy was arrested and charged with theft after police say he removed a bicycle from the driveway of a home on the 900 block of South Cambridge at 9:03 p.m. July 17. He was released on $75 bond to his mother.
