Husband Never Shows up to Pay for Mani-Pedi, Tax Returns Filed Under Others' Identity

Elmhurst Police report all types of theft.

Retail Theft Arrest

Valarie Zitko, 27, 6517 N. Campbell Ave., Chicago, and Chippy M. Lamm, 36, 1968 New Avenue Apt C, San Gabriel, Calif., were arrested and charged with retail theft after they allegedly were seen on camera taking several items worth $573 from Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. They were released on bond.

Theft of Services

An unknown female entered Luxury Nails, 181 S. Route 83, and requested a manicure and pedicure at 8:05 p.m. April 6. After the services were provided, she left the store saying her husband would be in to pay the bill. No one returned to pay.

A resident on the 800 block of South Euclid told police he filed his federal taxes, but they were denied because someone already had used his Social Security number to file taxes. Residents on the 200 block of West Fremont and the 400 block of East Butterfield, reported the same thing.

Theft

A woman told police April 5 that her wallet was stolen while she was at a wedding in Mt. Prospect March 11 and her credit cards were used at several locations in Villa Park, Addison, Elmhurst and Oak Brook. The Elmhurst transactions were at Kmart, 265 S. Route 83, on March 11 in the amount of $120.75 and $80.99. Police learned another wallet had been stolen at the same wedding, and the victim's credit cards were used in the same towns. The Elmhurst transactions were at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, on March 11 in the amount of $130.62 and $133.91.

Police are investigating a theft from Jewel, 944 S. York St., at 6:24 a.m. April 7. The alarm sounded as two men exited the store and got into a silver Cadillac sedan and traveled southbound on York. An employee believes they took liquor, as there was an empty space where a DeKuyper 750 ml bottle of Triple Sec used to be. At 6:24 a.m. April 8, police were called to the Jewel on a report of a suspicious vehicle believed to be the same one involved in the retail theft of April 7. An attempt was made to stop the vehicle as it was exiting the south lot, but the driver accelerated at a high rate of speed southbound on York to eastbound Roosevelt, then to eastbound I-290. The subjects discarded a box full of cigarette boxes, which broke apart on the roadway.

A man lost $27.69 worth of groceries from outside the doorway of his room at Extended Stay America, 550 W. Grand Ave., between 10:15 and 10:20 a.m. April 7. He arrived at his room with the groceries and his key was not working, so he put the groceries down so he could go get a new key. When he returned, the groceries were gone.

A juvenile rode his sister's small pink BMX bike to Starbuck's at 9 a.m. April 8, and on his way back, he fell off of it because it was too small for him. His mother told him to lock it up at the nearest bike rack. Instead, he hid it in some bushes at Park Avenue near Kenmore, and when they went back at 11 a.m. to get the bike, it was gone.

Someone broke the front passenger side window of a vehicle parked at the Elk's Lodge, 711 W. St. Charles Road, and stole a purse that was left on the seat between 7 and 8:35 p.m. April 9. The purse contained a Florida drivers license, $600, a Social Security card and multiple credit cards.

A woman told police that someone debited her Chicago Patrolmen's Federal Credit Union Visa card in the amount of $1,170.94 on April 9.

Someone removed a black and blue Giant Revel 2 bicycle that was locked on the bike rack in front of the athletic department at York High School, 355 W. St. Charles Road, between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. April 10.

Someone broke out the window of a tan Honda Civic parked on the 100 block of East Schiller between 1 and 3 p.m. April 11 and took a bag worth $10 containing a bottle of cologne and deodorant.

Someone made six charges on the Discover Credit Card of a resident on the 600 block of West Armitage Feb. 13. The transactions totaled $9,504.35
