House on Highview Ransacked Tuesday; Jewelry, TV Stolen

Also, Chicago man arrested for stealing from car, and Elmhurst police team up with Palatine police to track down a shoplifter.

Residential Burglary

A woman who lives on the 300 block of North Highview came home at about noon March 27 to find her home ransacked. She had been gone since 7:55 a.m., and her front door was still locked when she returned. Police noticed the rear door had been damaged and all the bedrooms had been gone through. Missing was an LG television and miscellaneous jewelry.

Vehicle Burglary Arrest

Ray Hoover, 49, 1814 W. 108th St., Chicago, was arrested charged with burglary after he allegedly admitted to taking some changed from an unlocked vehicle parked at US Bank, 540 S. York Road. Police responded to a call about the theft at 3:09 p.m. March 27. Hoover also allegedly admitted to taking a Coach purse and throwing it in a dumpster behind Carousel Flowers, 527 S. York Road. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Someone stole a vehicle from Elmhurst Frame and Alignment, 672 W. Lake St., between 3 p.m. March 24 and 3:27 p.m. March 25. The vehicle was repaired and left on the front lot on March 24 with the key in the console. It was supposed to be picked up by someone from Universal Hospital Services. On March 26, the complainant got a voicemail message stating the truck was recovered and impounded in Cicero.

Prescription medication was removed from a home on the 200 block of east North Avenue between Feb. 29 and March 24. The resident was hospitalized for knee replacement and had given the suspect a key to her home to take care of her dog. An investigation is pending.

A suspect was seen on store surveillance taking Crest Whitestrips and Prilosec tablets valued at $406.88 from Dominick's, 215 S. Route 83. Store security reviewed the video after a manager had notice some missing items; he and came in to the police department to report the crime at 1:28 p.m. March 27. The suspect matched the description on a bulletin created by the Palatine Police Department. Elmhurst police are following up with Palatine in their investigation.
