Hooded Bandit Sticks Up Elmhurst Subway

The stickup man made off with $219 from the Route 83 Subway, police said.

A man in a black hooded coat held up the Subway on Route 83 Sunday night, police said.

A man in his 50s "acted as if he had a handgun and demanded the money from the register," police said.

The bandit escaped through the restaurant's back door, absconding with $219.

Elmhurst Police Department evidence technicians processed the Subway for clues, police said.

I have repeatedly suggested that Elmhurst place video cameras at every known entry and exit to the community, making us essentially an upscale "gated" community. We could prevent most of these opportunistic crimes and solve many of those that do take olace. We are surrounded by many lower income communities and many avenues of escape. Any thoughts about this ?

Evidently we have convenient roads which criminals pass through to their destinations. Sorta makes me want to move away from these heavily populated areas.

jim court, pretending like we can shield our selves from the surrounding community is the same oblivious route we took to get our highschools full of heroin. shop owners should be armed if they want to stop criminals from feeling like they can take advantage of us. they should be afraid of trying to rob a store, at the moment they are not
