Police Say House on Shady Lane was Burglarized While Resident Was at Home

Resident surprises burglar, who throws a golf club at him then flees the area, police said.

A resident of the 300 block of North Shady Lane caught a man in the act of burglarizing his home at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9.

Police said the victim was in his room when he heard a noise coming from his father's bedroom. He went to see what the noise was when he was confronted by a white man, about 18 years old, 6 feet tall and 180 pounds with brown hair. The suspect, who was wearing a black sweatshirt with green writing on it and blue jeans, threw a golf club at the victim then fled through a sliding glass door in the father's bedroom.

The suspect was last seen fleeing westbound on North Avenue from Shady Lane in a black, older model Honda Civic.

Taken from the home was $700 to $800 in cash that was in his father's jewelry box.
