Hit-and-run Driver Plows Into Home on Linden

Police say they have apprehended the suspect.

A driver that plowed into a house on the 100 block of South Linden late Tuesday night fled the scene but was apprehended a short time later, according to Elmhurst Police Chief Michael Ruth.

At 11:55 p.m., Elmhurst medics, police and fire personnel responded to Church and Linden on the east side of Elmhurst.

Witnesses John and Jake Eleniewski said there was "significant damage" to the house. John Eleniewski said there were multiple squad cars on Poplar. He said he saw a vehicle with a damaged front end and police officers shining flashlights into a neighboring house. 

Skid marks could be seen on Church street, on the east side of the street, that ran for several dozen yards to the crash site, Eleniewski said.

At 12:22 a.m. Wednesday, Elmhurst medics radioed in to DuComm that they were headed to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, he said.
