No Injuries in Great Clips Armed Robbery Thursday Morning

Police said a man who appeared to be about 35 years old, 5'10" and 230 pounds robbed the Great Clips on Roosevelt Road on Thursday morning.

UPDATED: Jan. 3, 2:55 p.m.

A man brandishing a handgun robbed a Great Clips in Glen Ellyn early Thursday morning, getting away on foot with a small amount of money.

Glen Ellyn police responded to the robbery call at the Great Clips, 692 Roosevelt Road, at 9:30 a.m., said Deputy Chief Bill Holmer.

Employees told police the man entered the Great Clips, displayed a gun and demanded money. He left the store with a small, undisclosed amount of money and was seen walking east, Holmer said in a news release Thursday afternoon.

Witnesses described the man as being about 35 years old, about 5’10” and 230 pounds. He was carrying a black backpack and wearing tan pants, a black jacket and a scarf that covered most of his face.

Holmer said police were investigating similarities between the Glen Ellyn robbery and a robbery that took place in Lombard a day earlier. The robbery in Lombard also took place at a salon, but it wasn't a Great Clips, he said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Glen Ellyn Police Department at 630-469-1187.

They didn't get robbed. They got clipped.

I saw printed security camera photos of him, and he is definitely closer to 45, if not 50+. White, facial hair, heavy-set. Has been seen in Wheaton as well.

It was most likely the same individual who robbed a Great Clips that evening in Morton Grove. Yikes!
