Franklin Park Man Sent to Prison for November Robberies in Elmhurst, Wood Dale

Plea agreement reached with prosecutors.

A Franklin Park man has pleaded guilty to committing

Christopher Accardo, 26, was sentenced to six years in prison as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors earlier this week. He received concurrent sentences and was given credit for a little more than six months he has spent in DuPage County Jail, according to court records.

Accardo and a second man, Diego Garcia, were charged in late 2010 related to a pair of robberies on Nov. 30. Prosecutors alleged Accardo and Garcia used a gun to threaten a man on York Road before taking his cell phone, keys and ATM card, according to court documents. Earlier, they used a knife to take similar items from a man walking along Irving Park Road in Wood Dale.

As part of plea, prosecutors amended the armed robbery charge against Accardo to eliminate references to a gun being used in the crimes.
