Felony Theft Arrest Lands Woman in Jail

Elmhurst police also report theft of bras, nicotine patches, backpacks, wallets, identities and more over the past week.

Retail Theft Arrests

Karyn Flynn, 44, 411 Perrie Drive, Elk Grove Village, was arrested and charged with Class 3 Felony retail theft after a security officer at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, reportedly saw her place numerous jewelry and clothing items into a purse, which she also did not purchase, between 1:38 and 2:28 p.m. April 9. She passed all points of purchase, police said, and was arrested with merchandise worth a total of $585.83. She was taken to DuPage County Jail and released with an April 22 court date.

Kimberly Zientara, 48, 383 Scott St., Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with retail theft after police said she took NicoDerm CQ patches worth $49.89, a bra worth $9.99 and another bra worth $13.99 from Kmart, 265 S. Route 83, at 9 p.m. April 6. She was released on bond.

Stephanie L. Fey, 29, 818 E. Division Apt. 4, Lombard, was arrested and charged with retail theft after security personnel at Kmart, 265 S. Route 83, said they saw her remove merchandise worth $109.99 and walk past the point of purchase at 5:37 p.m. April 9. She also had a warrant out of Glendale Heights. She was turned over the Glendale Heights officers.

Warrant Arrest

Paul Komyatte, 42, 818 Division Apt. 4, Lombard, was arrested on a warrant for retail theft out of Glendale Heights after he came to the Elmhurst Police Department on another matter at 8:06 p.m. April 9. He was turned over to the Glendale Heights Police Department.

Identity Theft

Someone made several unauthorized purchases using a credit card belonging to a resident of the 500 block of Saylor. The crime was reported at 8:30 a.m. April 5.

Someone attempted to file a tax return using the personal information of a resident of the 200 block of North Addison Street in Elmhurst. 

Theft

The BMW emblem worth $50 was stolen off the trunk of a car parked on the 100 block of Robert Palmer Drive. The incident was reported at 2:12 p.m. April 7.

A woman told police that while she was helping her mother-in-law with the sale of a home on the 200 block of Arlington, someone stole her brown leather Fossil purse from the bottom of a kitchen cabinet between 1 and 4:30 p.m. April 7.

A man wearing a polar bear hat, white sweater and white pants attempted to steal a bicycle on the 100 block of South York at 1 p.m. April 8. A witness confronted the suspect, and he fled northbound on York.

Two Jansport backpacks, a North Face jacket and Oakley prescription sunglasses were taken from an unlocked vehicle parked on a driveway on the 300 block of South Lawndale between 9 p.m. April 8 and 7:30 a.m. April 9. Total loss is estimated at $850.

About $2 in coins was taken from an unlocked vehicle parked on the 300 block of South Lawndale between 9 p.m. April 8 and 8 a.m. April 9.

A GPS unit, $10 in cash and other items worth a total of about $380 was taken from an unlocked vehicle parked on a driveway on the 200 block of East May Street between 8 p.m. April 8 and 5 p.m. April 9.

A wallet containing bank cards, ID, $30 and a drivers license were stolen from a locker on the 200 block of West First Street between 7:30 and 8:28 p.m. April 10. The thief then reportedly used the victim's keys to break into his vehicle.
