The Elmhurst Police Department is continuing stepped-up enforcement of DUI and seat belt laws through Monday, July 4.

This particular campaign began in mid-June, but campaigns are held at various times throughout the year and are made possible by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation. The goal is to reduce fatal and serious injury crashes.

Extra officers will be out on patrol looking for impaired drivers and seat belt violations. During the most recent campaign May 13-30, Elmhurst police arrested 20 impaired drivers and wrote more than 200 seat belt citations.
