Ex-girlfriend Trashes Apartment, Elmhurst Officer Assists in Villa Park Standoff

Attempted burglary and sexual harassment also reported this month.

Criminal Damage to Property

Police said a man's ex-girlfriend entered his apartment on the first block of Elm Creek Lane between 9:30 and 11:30 p.m. Nov. 13. Police said she cut the cable and TV cords, slashed the couch, scratched the TV, scratched the dresser top, slashed a painting, slashed an inflatable mattress, wrote in green crayon on the bathroom wall, "we had sex yesterday," stole an iPad mini and a makeup bag containing car and house keys belonging to the man's new girlfriend. The offender also confronted the new girlfriend, who was sitting in the victim's truck. The offender opened the truck door and took his keys from the ignition. The victim said he plans to sign a complaint but an arrest had not been made at the time of the police report.

Barricaded Subject with a Rifle

An Elmhurst police officer assisted the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System Emergency Services Team for a call of a barricaded subject with a rifle on the 100 block of North Villa Avenue in Villa Park at 12:36 a.m. Nov. 10. The subject was taken into custody by Villa Park officers without incident.

Criminal Sexual Abuse

A man called police because he said his 15-year-old daughter was being forced to look at a male student's genitals at York High School, 355 W. St. Charles Road. The suspect, an ex-boyfriend, allegedly is harassing the girl. The incident happened several months ago but was reported on Nov. 14.

Attempted Burglary

Someone attempted to enter Dak Equipment, 857 Larch, at 10:57 p.m. Nov. 4. The alarm was activated and police found the rear door ajar with fresh scrape marks on it. Nothing appeared to be missing.

A resident of the 900 block of South Stratford told police someone attempted to open the rear door of her house and that she heard someone inside the home at 7:57 p.m. Nov. 13. Police saw signs of forced entry to the back door. A canine unit tracked from the back door to the corner of Harrison and Cadwell, but the suspect was not found. Nothing appeared to be missing from the house.

Commercial Burglary

Employees at Dunkin Donuts, 195 E. Butterfield Road, arrived to work at 5 a.m. Nov. 6 to find the glass door was broken out and a cash drawer pried from the register and moved to the back room. No money was taken. The suspect is a male. He was wearing a dark hat with a bill, a white mask, dark gloves, a dark jacket, blue jeans and dark shoes.
