Everybody Thinks They're an Artist; Elmhurst Police Report Property Damage

Offenders keep the spray-paint companies in business.

Someone painted with blue spray paint on the wooden fence on the northeast side of the parking lot at 621 W. North Ave., near XSport Fitness. The damage was noticed at 9:30 a.m. July 1.

Someone drew a kangaroo with horns, the word “human,” a skateboarder and a smiling face on Jefferson School, 360 E. Crescent Ave., between noon June 30 and 10:59 a.m. July 1. The electric meter reportedly used as a step for the offenders to get to the second floor also was damaged.

Someone spray-painted with pink paint a home on the 600 block of Saylor between 10:30 a.m. June 30 and 8 a.m. July 1. Damage is estimated at $300.

Someone damaged two glass windows on the east side of Anthony’s Formalwear, 727 N. York Road, between 8 p.m. June 30 and 9 a.m. July 1. Damage is estimated at $100.

Someone spray painted obscenities in pink paint on a home on the 600 block of South Saylor between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. July 1. Cost for cleanup is estimated at $200.

Someone spray-painted in pink the words “Brooke Love” with a heart and the date 6.29.11 on a property on the 600 block of West Alexander Boulevard. Police on patrol noticed the graffiti at 1:14 a.m. July 3.

Someone scratched a vehicle and wrote on it with black marker between 7 a.m. and 2:35 p.m. July 4 while the vehicle was parked on the 500 block of South Spring Road. Damage is estimated at $1,200.

Someone painted graffiti on the south wall of Wilson Montessori Academy, 136 W. Vallette #10. Police on patrol at 5:28 a.m. July 6 noticed four triangles with the word “human” and a stencil of a man’s face, and a human figure holding something.

A man told police his soon-to-be ex-wife dropped off his belongings unexpectedly at his place of work at 5:54 p.m. July 6. She left the items on top of his vehicle, causing $1,000 in damage. The victim said the divorce has been ongoing for a year and this is not the first time she has harassed him. 

Someone broke the sign at Pioneer Park in half between 9 p.m. July 6 and 7:15 a.m. July 7. Damage is estimated at $1,800.
