Elmhurst's K-9 Finds Suspect On the Run, Numerous Items Stolen at Teen Drinking Party

Also, local military man just wants his iPad back.

Gun, Cannabis Found in Bensenville

Elmhurst police were called to assist Bensenville police at 12:36 a.m. May 4 to track a subject who fled on foot from Irving Park and York roads. The subject was found by Elmhurst's police dog and was taken into custody. Police also found a black semi-automatic 9 mm handgun, cannabis and bath salts in the car from which the subject ran. Elmhurst police did not release the name of the suspect in custody.

Attempted Burglary

The bedroom screen was pushed in on a home on the 100 block of West Fullerton between 8:30 a.m. May 5 and 12:29 a.m. May 6. The victim did not find anything missing.

Theft

A number of items were stolen from a home on the 200 block of North Highland after the daughter of the homeowner held an underage drinking party with more than 30 people in attendance between 8 and 11 p.m. May 5. Missing were several pill bottles, an iPod, a laptop computer, cell phone, two iPad Touch, a sound deck and $40 in cash. All items were recovered except the cell phone and the sound deck. Police arrested several people but they were released without charges. Officers will seek warrants, according to the police report. The homeowners' daughter was charged with hosting an underage drinking party and consumption of alcohol by a minor. She was released on I-bond at the scene.

Someone removed a white Apple 64G iPad and a black leather case worth $800 from a hotel room on the 600 block of North York Road on May 6. The victim last recalled seeing it on the nightstand at about 10 a.m. He said he is leaving the country on military duty and does not wish to sign complaints, he only would like it returned.

A resident of the 300 block of Avery became suspicious when he received correspondence from various credit card companies regarding accounts someone was attempting to open under his name on April 27. He had not applied for any of these accounts and he notified the companies, which put an alert on his information for fraudulent activity.
