Elmhurst Residents Wake to Find Strange Man Sleeping on Their Couch

Also, dog digs up human-looking bone, man arrested for hit and run, and fire extinguished at Berens Park.

Disorderly Conduct

Residents of the 100 block of South Kenmore Avenue told police they discovered an unknown man sleeping on their couch at 7:20 a.m. Aug. 11. Police said Michael M. Porter, 21, 163 Fairlane, Elmhurst, was intoxicated, entered their unlocked door and went to sleep on the couch thinking he was at a friend's house. He was charged with disorderly conduct/alarming and disturbing another. He was released on bond.

Kenneth Conway, 48, 335 River Glen, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after allegedly kicking in a bedroom door on the 300 block of River Glen at 11:23 p.m. Aug. 11. He was released on bond.

No Bones About It

A resident of the 100 block of North Glade told police at 11:15 a.m. Aug. 9 that her dog dug up a bone in her back yard she believed might be human. The officer took photos of the bone and sent them to the Cook County Medical Examiners Office, which confirmed the bones were from a large animal and were not human in nature.

Hit and Run

Victor Gomez, 30, 382 Catalpa Ave. First Floor, Wood Dale, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving without a license after his red Ford Explorer was involved in an accident with a vehicle driven by a 40-year-old Chicago man on the 300 block of North York at 4:53 p.m. Aug. 9. He was released on bond.

Fire at Berens Park

Two men about 18 years old were seen lighting a pile of wood on fire on top of the sledding hill at Berens Park, West and Armitage, at 4:33 p.m. Aug. 10. They were last seen running toward a silver Toyota parked on the west side of the park. The fire department put out the fire.
