Elmhurst Resident Charged With Dealing Cocaine, and Four Arrested for DUI

Also, Maywood man allegedly punches nurse, two arrested for public intoxication and several warrant arrests reported.

Possession with Intent to Deliver

Shay Wagner, 22, 260 Boyd, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia after police pulled over his silver BMW 528i for disobeying a stop sign and failure to signal at Fair and Huntington at 5:34 p.m. Aug. 13. Police said he was found to be in possession of "a large quantity of cocaine" and drug paraphernalia. He was taken to DuPage County Jail, where he is being held on $10,000 bond.

Stephen A. Ferrara, 73, 341 N. Charlotte, Lombard, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and illegal transportation of alcohol after the red Ford Taurus he was driving was involved in an accident with a 60-year-old Elmhurst man at St. Charles and Berkley at 5:25 p.m. Aug. 9. Ferrara also was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was released on bond.

Sharad Gupta, 39, 4625 Granfield, St. Charles, was arrested and charged with DUI and driving without insurance after police were called for a driver passed out behind the wheel of a white Honda Pilot at 2:20 a.m. Aug. 10. Before police arrived, Gupta allegedly woke up and drove westbound, striking multiple construction barricades. HeΒ was finally stopped at North and Highview, police said. He was released on bond.

Joe Taylor, 43, 718 Biermann, Villa Park, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over his white Dodge Ram for improper lane use at Lake Street and Route 83 at 9:39 a.m. Aug. 11. He was released on bond.

Andres Zuniga-Sanchez, 31, 2307 S. Hamlin, Chicago, was arrested and charged with DUI, driving without a license, driving without insurance, improper lane use and illegal transportation of alcohol after police received a call for a reckless driver at York and Madison at 9:28 p.m. Aug. 11. He was released on bond.

Battery

John James, 30, 200 S. Second, Maywood, was arrested and charged with battery after he allegedly punched a nurse in the face at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill, at 1:33 a.m. Aug. 12. He was released on bond.

Disorderly Conduct

Mark V. Malchart, 55, 207 N. Hampshire, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct/public intoxication and possession of open alcohol at Washington Park, Poplar and May streets, at 6:25 p.m. Aug. 13. He was released on bond.

Elizabeth B. Karpf, 61, 1075 Lake St. Apt. 301, Hanover Park, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct/public intoxication after police responded to a silver Nissan Altima blocking traffic on North Avenue at Indiana at 3:01 p.m. Aug. 14. Police said Karpf was standing on the sidewalk with another motorist. She was released on bond.Β 

Warrant Arrests

Vanessa Figur, 26, 836 S. Austin Blvd. Apt. 2E, Oak Park, turned herself in on a failure to appear warrant out of DuPage County at 11:28 p.m. Aug. 9. She was released on bond.

Andrew Beristany, 21, 165 E. North Ave., Elmhurst, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear out of Will County after police found him and three other subjects gathered around a street sign at Third and Addison at 1:37 a.m. Aug. 11. Police said one of the subjects began "violently shaking" the sign pole, but it was not damaged. Beristany was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Enrique Delacruz, 25, 357 W. Diversey Ave., Addison, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on a criminal trespass charge after police pulled over his tan Infiniti I-30 for expired registration at 9:18 p.m. Aug. 13. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Sonya R. Wallace, 29, 1618 N. Melvina First Floor, Chicago, was arrested on a warrant out of DeKalb County for failure to appear after she turned herself in at the police station at 4:34 p.m. Aug. 14. She was released on bond.
