Elmhurst Police Seek Leads, Issue a Warning After Attacks

Two children assaulted in Villa Park, and another attacker gets away in a Mercedes.

Elmhurst police are reaching out to the public after two unrelated incidences in recent days.

The department is cautioning Elmhurst parents after two middle school children were assaulted by two adult men in Villa Park on Wednesday, March 7. At about 7 p.m., the two students were approached by the two men near Summit and Maple streets and were attacked.

"While this event did not occur in our attendance area, we wanted parents to be informed due to the close proximity," a press relese from District 205 stated. "Please remind your children to report to you or the district any situations that are out of the ordinary or frightening."Β 

The release provided the following safety guidelines to review with children:

  • Always walk in groups
  • Be aware of your surroundings
  • Never approach an unknown vehicle or talk to strangers
  • If approached by a stranger, don’t speak or make eye contact and then run home or away to a place of safety
  • Report any strange incidents to a responsible adult as soon as possible

Elmhurst police also asking for help locating a man who committed aggravated battery last Saturday night, March 3, near the York Theatre, 150 N. York.

A police report released on Monday, March 5, said at about 9:30 p.m. March 3, a victim was "punched in the face by an unknown offender," who then took off in a Mercedes.

The press release issued on Friday said the man is described as 30 to 50 years old, at least 6 feet tall with a heavy build and no facial hair. The victim "had a short altercation" with the man, who then left the scene in a black four-door Mercedes-Benz. Police believe the car had Indiana plates, with the number 34898 in red.

The man was accompanied by a white female, who stayed in the Mercedes during the incident.
