Elmhurst Police Report Theft and Property Damage

Incidents reported during the first half of November.

Theft Arrest

Rodolfo Leon-Arcisa, 57, 230 Linden, Bellwood, was arrested and charged with theft after police pulled over a white Dodge Ram at North and Melrose at 3:39 a.m. Nov. 15. Police determined that a large load of metal in the truck had been stolen from Power Solutions of Wood Dale. Leon-Arcisa also was charged with driving without a license. He was released on bond.

Theft

Tools worth $2,800 were stolen from a vehicle parked on the 100 block of North Glenview at 5:58 a.m. Nov. 15. The passenger side rear window had been smashed.

An Apple MacBook laptop worth $1,200 was taken from a dorm room at Stanger Hall at Elmhurst College, 190 S. Prospect Ave., between 11:45 a.m. Nov. 14 and 11:45 a.m. Nov. 15.

Possession of Cannabis

Shawn Touma, 22, 1610 Grove, Addison, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia after police pulled over his black Hyundai Sonata for no seat belt at 700 W. North Ave. at 11:47 p.m. Nov. 15. He was released on I-bond.

Property Damage

The rear window was smashed out of a vehicle parked in a lot on the 800 block of North York Street between 8 p.m. Oct. 31 and 7:15 a.m. Nov. 1 causing about $500 in damage. Another vehicle had $300 in damage to the front bumper. Surveillance video will be examined.

Someone smashed the front glass door of JMC Barber Shop, 105 N. Addison, possibly by putting a fist through it, between 3 p.m. Nov. 3 and 8:16 a.m. Nov. 4. Blood was found on the ground near the door and trailing into the adjacent bar. Employees at the bar told police they did see a man come in with heavily bleeding hand. Damage is estimated at $200.

Someone broke the outside panes of two picture windows of a home on the 900 block of South York Road with an unknown projectile between Oct. 27 and 9:30 a.m. Nov. 4. The victim suspects painters she had contracted that did substandard work and damaged her floors. She fired them and only paid for half of their bill. Both suspects allegedly were reluctant to give information to police.

All four wheels on each of three vehicles parked in a lot on the 200 block of North York Road were slashed between midnight and 10 a.m. Nov. 10. Damage is estimated at $800 per vehicle.
