Elmhurst Police Report Theft and Property Damage

Most unusual? Someone stole all four wheels off of a BMW and left it on jacks.

Theft

Someone removed a black Samsung Galaxy cell phone worth $350 from the sink in the bathroom at Fitz's Lanes, 119 N. York, between 11:38 p.m. and midnight Dec. 28.

Someone removed a black NorthFace jacket from a bar stool at Doc Ryan's, 490 S. Spring Road, between 9:25 and 11:30 p.m. Dec. 30.

A woman came into the police department at 2:36 p.m. Dec. 31 to report that her CitiBank Visa card had been used fraudulently. She said she lost the card in the past month, and when she received her monthly statement, there were numerous charges totaling $5,000 for merchandise purchased in South Elgin, St. Charles and Geneva.

Someone removed a wallet from the bar at Charlie's, 122 S. York Road, between 12:01 and 1 a.m. Jan. 1. The wallet contained a Wisconsin drivers license, $380, personal check and several credit cards.

A contractor who has been completing a basement remodeling job on the 300 block of South Sunnyside told police that a box full of his tools were removed from the garage of the residence sometime between 8 a.m. Dec. 29 and 8 a.m. Dec. 31. He told police he has been working for about six months with only a verbal contract, and relations with the homeowner have recently gone downhill. The homeowner said he did not know where the tools were, and attempts to contact another worker on the site were unsuccessful. Loss is estimated at $7,530.

Someone fraudulently used the Discover credit card of an Elmhurst resident  to purchase about $2,000 worth of merchandise at Dick's Sporting Goods and Best Buy on Dec. 30.

Someone might have stolen a black men's wallet from a home on the 400 block of West Butterfield sometime between 8 p.m. Jan. 3 and 6 p.m. Jan. 4. The victim said he was visiting his mother, and she had movers in the house. The wallet contains several credit cards, $125, a Missouri drivers license, Missouri gun permit and miscellaneous items. He believes it was stolen because of a pending charge on one of his credit cards out of Joliet.

Someone removed four 20-inch wheels from a tan BMW parked at Elmhurst BMW, 466 W. Lake St., between 8:30 a.m. Jan. 4 and 7:30 a.m. Jan. 5. The vehicle was found in the parking lot of the business on four jack stands with three sets of lug nuts on the ground around it. Total loss is nearly $6,000.

Property Damage

Someone damaged the driver side door of a vehicle parked at Illinois and Third streets between 2 and 5 p.m. Dec. 23. The damage appeared to be consistent with a traffic accident.

Someone threw an older model television onto a fire hydrant on the 200 block of Hawthorne at 11:08 p.m. Dec. 23. The television broke and glass was scattered around. The complainant told police this was the ninth time a television ad been impaled on the fire hydrant.

Someone pushed in a window that had been previously damaged by a baseball at York High School, 355 W. St. Charles Road, between noon Dec. 30 and 9 a.m. Jan. 1.

Someone keyed a vehicle parked at 689 Indiana between 7 and 10 p.m. Dec. 31.
