Elmhurst Police Report Property Damage

Houses egged, spray-paint artists leave their mark and a wagon set on fire.

A woman on the 300 block of North Highview reported that her house was egged between 4 and 5 a.m. and again at 9:45 p.m. on June 3.

A stop sign on the southeast corner of McKinley and Prospect avenues, and another on the northwest corner of Prospect and Madison Street were spray painted in black with the word “Voldemort.” The damage was discovered at 6:33 a.m. June 4.

Someone keyed a vehicle parked behind the York Theatre, on the 100 block of North Addison Avenue, between 1 and 3:30 p.m. June 4.

An officer on patrol at 2:33 a.m. June 12 noticed that someone had broken the pedestrian railroad crossing gate at York Road and the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. The 6-foot-long gate was found lying on the southwest corner of the sidewalk and appeared to have broken off the signal pole on the west side of York and Park.

Someone spray painted “Jordan Spencer” and a phallus symbol on the street in front of 854 N. Parker. Police noticed the graffiti while on patrol at 1:25 a.m. June 15.

Someone wrote “drug dealer wannabe” and profanity on a garage door on the 100 block of East Fullerton between 11 p.m. June 15 and 8 a.m. June 16. Police also notice blue spray paint on a city light pole on the same block.

Someone broke out the rear window of a vehicle parked on the 400 block of West North Avenue between 2:20 and 3:48 p.m. June 16. Damage is estimated at $400.

A home on the 800 block of North Willow Road was damaged by blue and green spray paint and eggs sometime between 10:30 p.m. June 16 and 8:40 p.m. June 17.

Someone spray painted a home on the 800 block of North Willow with the word “Kush!” in blue and green spray paint between 10 a.m. June 16 and 7:55 p.m. June 17.

A speed limit sign at 483 N. Emroy was spray painted in blue sometime before 9:16 p.m. June 17.

Someone damaged the exit sign on the east side of Madison Early Education Center, 130 W. Madison St., between 8:30 p.m. June 17 and 7 a.m. June 18.

Someone broke the front drivers side window of a vehicle parked at Xsport Fitness, 633 W. North Ave., between 7 and 8:15 p.m. June 20. Damage is estimated at $200.

Someone spray painted the word “human” on an electrical box, the word “swag” on the pavement and an upside-down cross and “666” at the pumping stations at Eldridge Park between 10 a.m. June 20 and 3 p.m. June 22.

Someone spray painted the wheelchair elevator at the Elmhurst Historical Museum, 120 E. Park St., with the letters “shykes is.” An Elmhurst Public Works employee noticed the damage at 8:21 a.m. June 24.

A child’s wagon was set on fire behind a detached garage on the 600 block of Fairview at 9:07 p.m. June 26. The wagon, which the victim had used for gardening, had been inside an open garage.
