Elmhurst Police Report Incidents of Vandalism and Criminal Trespass

Property Damage

Someone pulled the front display of a coin-operated vending machine out of its frame at Berens Park, 493 Oaklawn, causing about $1,200 in damage. A passerby reported the damage at 12:51 p.m. Jan. 28.

Someone spray-painted the alley-side of a building behind the Clark station, 145 W. Second St. "WREB" and "VIIXI" was painted in red and discovered at 3:57 p.m. Jan. 29.

A city maintenance worker noticed that someone used red, black and white marker to write "Saj," "Lazer," "Viala" and "Vader" on the north side of the pedestrian underpass at North Avenue and Emroy between Jan. 26 and 10:34 a.m. Jan. 30. An evidence technician photographed the scene, police said.

In red spray paint, someone wrote "W2EB VIAL" on the side of Sakana Restaurant, 111 W. Second St. The markings were first seen on Jan. 29, and a complainant from a neighboring restaurant called to report it at 1:25 p.m. Jan. 30.

Carousel Flowers, 527 S. York Road, has been subject to a number of property damage incidents recently. The latest incident involved a which picket fence and flower pot being knocked over sometime between 5 p.m. Jan. 29 and 7 p.m. Jan. 30. Other incidents reported in January include a person on the garage roof, someone blocking the store entrance with flower pots and a trellis, and damage to a flag and flower pot.

Criminal Trespass to Property

A woman on the 200 block of East Park Street told police she found a hard-sided paper journal she believes was left by her husband on her property at 6:01 p.m. Jan. 28. She is in the process of a divorce, and this is the second incident since he was issued no-trespass order.
