Elmhurst Police Report Harassment and Suspicious Circumstances

Resident finds a key that fits her door, but it's not her key.

Harassment

A resident on the 600 bock of Fairfield reported she has been receiving phone calls from a man who continually asks her to participate in a debt consolidation plan. She told him she was not interested and hung up. He repeatedly called her for several days. The victim became irritated and began to yell at the man, who then started swearing at her.

A woman on the 400 block of May Street reported she found a new key laying on her driveway at 4:22 p.m. Feb. 24. She tried the key in her front door lock, and it fit, but she told police it was not her key. Nothing was disturbed in the house and police have no suspects.

Someone came into Brush Wellman, 606 Lemont, at 4:02 p.m. March 2 acting as if he were past friends of the owner and stating he had done work for the company in the past. The suspect asked for copper pieces for his nearby roofing job, and was told no. The suspect left and was later spotted in the Extended Stay America lot, but left quickly when he reportedly knew he had been seen. 

Stolen Vehicle

A resident on the 200 block of North Oak Street reported his car stolen at 2:30 a.m. Feb. 26. He told police he worked until 4 p.m. Feb. 25, drove home and parked his 2008 Toyota Matrix in his driveway. He said he then went to dinner with a friend at about 6:50 p.m. When he returned home between 2 and 2:30 a.m. Feb. 26, he took his dog for a walk and noticed his vehicle was no longer in the driveway. He reportedly told police he could not locate his car keys. Police reported the victim was intoxicated and “heavily slurring his words.” The vehicle was entered into LEADS as stolen.
