Elmhurst Police Report Arrests for Theft, Obstructing and Domestic Battery

Obstructing

Aris K. Sandefur, 26, 1262 Pine Valley Drive #105, Schaumburg, was arrested at 5:26 p.m. April 29 at Schiller and York streets. Police responded to a call for a woman stealing coins from the City Centre fountain. Sandefur allegedly admitted to taking the coins. When police spoke to her, she provided officers with her sister’s name and date of birth. She was charged with providing a false ID. Police also discovered she had a failure to appear warrant on a retail theft charge. She was taken to DuPage County Jail.

A woman told police that as she left the smoke shop at 176 N. York Road at 12:19 p.m. April 29, a heavy-set man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, white T-shirt and khaki pants commented to her that it was a “lovely day.” A short time later, her sister, who was waiting for her, told police the same man approached their vehicle, grabbed the driver side door handle and remarked that it was “a lovely day.” She noticed the handle of a weapon in his pants. The man was not found.

Theft Arrests

Michael P. Miarnowski, 37, 124 Oakland Grove, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with theft and attempted theft at 10 a.m. April 23 on the 100 block of Pick Avenue. The victim told police 18 aluminum ladders were taken from outside his garage. Another resident said she saw a man enter her back yard, but he left when confronted. Miarnowski allegedly admitted to taking the ladders, and it was also discovered he had allegedly taken a Weber grill and attempted to take a decoration from one of the back yards. He was released on bond.

Domestic Battery

Steven S. Krafcky, 18, 341 S. Poplar Ave., was arrested and charged with domestic battery at his home at 9:03 p.m. April 29. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Anna Marie Schullo, 35, 150 E. Schiller St. #407, was arrested and charged with domestic battery and reckless conduct after an incident that started at York Theatre, 150 N. York Road, at 5:42 p.m. April 30. She allegedly bit and pinched a victim on his arm. She then reportedly returned home, started a fire and barricaded the door. When police gained entry, she reportedly climbed onto a balcony railing and was yelling and combative with officers. After a struggle, she was taken to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. She was charged after her release from the hospital.
