Elmhurst Police Report Arrests for DUI

DUI and seat belt enforcement campaign in force through the weekend.

Elmhurst police are in the in search of impaired drivers and seat belt violators. The following arrests were made May 1-3:

DUI Arrests

Andrew Nelson, 23, 267 May St., Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspended license and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle after police pulled him over for speeding at Quincy and York at 1:02 a.m. May 1. He was released on I-bond.

James Schwartz, 42, 978 S. Fairfield, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with DUI and driving without insurance after police pulled over his silver Toyota for no tail lights and failure to signal at Palmer and Schiller at 12:42 a.m. May 3. He was released on I-bond.

Luis Cardona-Gomez, 24, 1051 Ferrari Apt. 1B, Bensenville, was arrested and charged with DUI, driving without a license and driving without insurance after police pulled over his blue Toyota Corolla for improper lane use at Grand and Church at 1:59 a.m. May 3. He was released on bond.

Abel Ledezma Jr., 20, 1018 Green Valley, Bensenville, was arrested and charged with reckless DUI, consumption of alcohol by a minor, illegal transportation of alcohol, providing alcohol to minors, and operating a motor vehicle under age 21 with alcohol in the blood after police pulled over his red Pontiac for improper turn at 160 N. Palmer Drive at 5:49 p.m. May 3.Three minors in the vehicle were cited for consumption of alcohol by a minor and released on the scene. Ledezma was released on I-bond.

Elmhurst police responded to a report of a suspicious person at 620 W. North Ave. at 11:50 p.m. May 1. Jose Martinez, 28, 2170 N. Austin, Chicago, was found to have open alcohol in his vehicle. He was released on bond.
