Elmhurst Police Report Arrests for Drugs and DUI

Two of the women arrested for DUI were both pulled over after they were seen driving with two flat tires.

Drug Arrests

Malissa A. Kurzac, 26, 1110 Sandra, Northlake, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis and open alcohol after a traffic stop at 954 N. York Road at 8:11 a.m. May 17. She was released on bond.

Sean M. Waffird, 18, 362 E. St. Charles Road, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia after police were called to Ridge and Hampshire streets at 9:14 p.m. May 22 on a report of possible drug activity. Waffird allegedly was smoking cannabis inside his gray Ford Focus. He was released on I-bond.

Jessica R. Timberlake, 18, 10528 Essex St., Westchester, and Raymond Lopez, 22, 30 Orchard St., Hillside, were arrested and charged with possession of cannabis and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after a traffic stop at 4:38 p.m. May 23 at St. Charles and Fair. A 16-year-old passenger also was cited for possession of cannabis. His parents refused to pick him up so he ended up staying at a friend’s house for the night.

James G. Butler Jr., 23, 1319 W. State St., Geneva, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, speeding and possession of cannabis after a traffic stop at 11:35 a.m. May 24 at Interstate 290 and York Road. He was released on cash bond. A passenger in the vehicle, Robert L. White, 22, 3754 N. Central Park, Chicago, was charged with possession of cannabis and released on I-bond.

Deanna Tortorice, 30, 516 W. Division, Villa Park, and Jimmy Oliver, 40, of the same address, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance after police found five bags of suspect heroin during a traffic stop at 11:30 a.m. May 24 at Roosevelt Road and Route 83. They were both taken to DuPage County Jail.

Frank Dibenedetto, 53, 115 Fremont, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop for failing to signal at 2:59 p.m. May 24. The arrest report did not include the location of the arrest nor the type of drug that was found. He was taken to DuPage County Jail and his vehicle was forfeited.

Melissa D. Katchen, no age given, 839 Spring Creek, Naperville, was arrested and charged with speeding and possession of a controlled substance (ecstasy) after she was pulled over at 3:03 p.m. May 24 at Interstate 88 and York Road. She was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Dustin Giglio, 30, 604 N. Second St., Rockford, and Cassandra Lyles, 27, no address given, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (crack cocaine) after a traffic stop at Interstate 290 and Route 83 at 4:15 p.m. May 24. They were taken to DuPage County Jail. A passenger in the vehicle, Ollie J. Johnson, 31, 715 W. State, Rockford, was charged with illegal transportation of alcohol and released on I-bond.

DUI Arrests

Erin J. Hayes, 21, 905 Fairfield Ave., Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after she was seen driving on two flat tires and stopping at a green light at 4:03 a.m. May 19 at York and Butterfield roads. She reportedly admitted to drinking, but she said she didn’t know her tires were flat. In addition to DUI, Hayes also was charged with driving on unsafe tires, driving without insurance and possession of drug paraphernalia. A passenger in the vehicle, Ashley Klappaur, 20, 446 Montrose, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with underage drinking and possession of a fake identification card.

Carlos Martinez, 48, 4819 S. Paulina, Chicago, was arrested and charged with DUI, improper lane use, disorderly conduct and illegal transportation of alcohol after police received a call for a reckless driver at 12:04 p.m. May 20 at North and West avenues. Martinez was reportedly seen driving into on-coming traffic then parking his vehicle and urinating in a parking lot at 533 W. North Ave. He was released on bond.

Natalia Ramos, 25, 125 S. Mill, Addison, was arrested and charged with DUI after a traffic stop at Spring and Montrose at 1:01 a.m. May 20. She was released on bond.

Jose F. Delacruz, 49, 2941 N. Lowell Ave., Chicago, was arrested and charged with DUI and no insurance after a traffic stop at North Avenue and York Road at 11:23 p.m. May 20. He was released on bond.

Jennifer M. Rostis, 34, 217 Haller Ave., Romeoville, was arrested and charged with driving without a license and DUI after a traffic stop at York and Schiller streets at 2:08 a.m. May 21. She was released on I-bond.

Robert E. Meziere, 32, 141 N. Marion Ave., Bartlett, was arrested and charged with DUI after a traffic stop at Route 83 between North Avenue and St. Charles Road at 2:44 a.m. May 21. He was released on bond.

Braden Torres, 24, 414 Prairie Lane, North Aurora, was arrested and charged with DUI after a traffic stop at York and Harvard at 2:51 a.m. May 21. He was released on bond.

Daniel G. Hamilton, 23, 1906 Terrace Road, Homewood, was arrested and charged with DUI after a traffic stop at Interstate 290 and Lake Street. Police found him pulled over on the shoulder of the road with his hazard lights on. He also was wanted on a warrant out of DuPage County for failure to appear on a charge of fighting. He was released on bond.

Rodolfo Castillo, 55, 1871 Hollywood Ave., Hanover Park, was arrested and charged with DUI after a six-car crash at Lake Street and Grand Avenue at 6:39 p.m. May 21. He was released on I-bond.

Yanina I. Gorodnitskaya, 66, 841 N. York Road, was arrested and charged with DUI after she was seen driving with two flat tires at 11:24 p.m. May 21 at York and Hahn streets. She was released on I-bond.
