Elmhurst Police Report Another Burglary, and Former Employee Threatens 'a Terrorist Act'

Police also report drug and alcohol arrests March 23-26.

Residential Burglary

Someone pried open the back door of a home on the 100 block of East Lake Street at around 5:50 p.m. March 26 and took a blue Nintendo DS and jewelry.

Harassment
The sales manager for AIM National Lease, 782 Industrial Drive, told police that an employee who had been terminated from the company three years ago and was denied unemployment benefits has been sending threatening emails and letters to the corporate office. On March 20, a YouTube video was discovered that shows the suspect stating he "still has the keys for the AIM trucks and he could plant bombs and commit a terrorist act." An investigation is ongoing.

Grecia Bahena, 26, 4914 W. 18th St. Apt. 7, Cicero, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police pulled over her Acura TL for one headlight and improper lane use at North and York at 12:59 a.m. March 23. She was released on bond.

Angel L. Del Valle Castro, 20, 41 N. Highview, Addison, was arrested and charged with DUI and consumption of alcohol by a minor after police pulled over his black Nissan Maxima for improper lane use at Roosevelt and Route 83 at 2:44 a.m. March 23.

James E. Knott, 51, 520 S. Fairfield, Lombard, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over his gray Chevrolet Trailblazer for speeding, improper lane use and no rear registration light at Roosevelt and York at 11:58 p.m. March 23. He was released on I-bond.

Sunil T. Isaac, 30, 921 Weatherbee Ave., Downers Grove, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over his black Hyundai Santa Fe for improper lane use and no registration plate light at Roosevelt and Villa Avenue at 4:14 a.m. March 24. He was released on I-bond.

Charles E. Ventura, 35, 1126 Ironwood Drive, Elgin, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over his white Chevrolet Colorado for improper lane use and no plate light at Oakland Grove and Albert streets at 4:58 a.m. March 25. He was released on I-bond.

Raul Lucena, 27, 2911 N. Newcastle, Chicago, was arrested and charged with DUI, improper parking on the roadway, no seat belt, driving without insurance and possession of cannabis after police found him and passenger Joseph R. Waller, 28, 7066 Diversey Ave., Chicago, passed out in a gold Honda CRV in traffic at St. Charles and York Road at 7:47 a.m. March 25. Waller was cited with possession of cannabis. Both were released on I-bond.

Criminal Trespass/DUI

Julio C. Jaramillo, 30, 408 E. Drake Ave., Addison, was arrested and charged with driving without a license and DUI after he and another person pulled up at the old Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, 200 N. Berteau, in a red Honda Prelude at 4:34 a.m. March 25 and somehow made it into the emergency department even though the doors were locked. Security threw them out of the hospital and called police when he realized they were "very intoxicated." Both were given no trespass orders. Jaramillo was released on I-bond.

Jennifer Herrera, 18, 6914 26th St., Berwyn, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, unlawful use of a weapon, consumption of alcohol by a minor and driving without insurance after police pulled over her white Ford Focus for failure to signal and no rear registration plate light at North Avenue and Route 83 at 4:13 a.m. March 26. A search of the vehicle revealed a dollar bill containing suspect cocaine on the driver side floorboard and a set of metal knuckles. She was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Possession of Cannabis

Najee Amir Bailey, 19, 9124 Senate Drive, DesPlaines, and Michael S. Ellis, 18, 190 S. Prospect Apt. 3044, were arrested and charged with possession of cannabis after police pulled them over for no headlights at Rex and St. Charles Road at 9:44 p.m. March 26. Both were released on bond.

Warrant Arrest

Leslie Becerra, 18, 730 N. Highview, Addison, was arrested on a warrant out of DuPage County for failure to appear after Elmhurst police located her on the 100 block of East Fullerton at 1:31 a.m. March 24. She was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Disorderly Conduct

Bryan J. McDermott, 34, 703 W. Liberty, Wheaton, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after a PADS employee told police he was intoxicated and passed out in front of Elmhurst Presbyterian Church, 367 S. Spring Road, at 7:07 p.m. March 24. He was taken to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.

Suspicious Vehicle

A man told police he saw a young girl walking her dog on the east side of the 100 block of Berteau at 4:49 p.m. March 21 when a silver-panel van drove slowly down the street, stopping next to the girl. The van pulled away a few seconds later and the girl continued walking northbound. The complainant has a surveillance camera outside his home and it captured the suspicious vehicle. The information was placed into evidence.

Soliciting Without a Permit

Carlton Nunnally, 32, 208 Maple St., Sulpher, La., was cited for soliciting without a permit at 5:27 p.m. March 23. A resident near St. Charles and Prairie told police he purchased $135 worth of magazines from Nunnally with a personal check. After Nunnally  left the area, the resident researched the company, Hand Up Distribution, and felt it was fraudulent. Police located Nunnally and learned he was soliciting without a permit. He was released on the scene, and the resident got his check back.
