Mothers Against Drunk Driving on Sept. 22 recognized Officer Matthew McCollum of the Elmhurst Police Department for his efforts in reducing alcohol abuse in Elmhurst.
Each year, MADD recognizes individuals in Illinois who make exemplary efforts to eliminate drunk driving, provide support for victims of DUI and help prevent underage drinking.
Elmhurst Police Department has a long history of aggressive DUI enforcement. In 2011, the Elmhurst Police Department made 367 DUI arrests which was the sixth highest in the state. McCollum was the leading officer in Elmhurst with 73 DUI arrests.
