Elmhurst Police Crack Down on Sale of Tobacco and Alcohol to Minors

Violations occurred at restaurants, liquor stores and gas stations on March 10.

Elmhurst police cracked down last week on retailers selling alcohol and cigarettes to minors during a liquor and tobacco compliance check March 10. The following were charged on that day:

Sale of Alcohol to Minors

Danielle Smalec, 31, 2021 S. Wolf Road #309, Hillside, was charged with unlawful sale of alcohol to a minor while she was working at Sals, 695 W. St. Charles Road, at 7:51 p.m. She was released on I-bond.

Thomas Guinan, 46, 483 Evergreen, Elmhurst, was charged with unlawful sale of alcohol to a minor while bartending at Knights of Columbus, 537 S. York, at 8:04 p.m. He was released on I-bond.

Salvatore Collura, 64, 40 S. Garden, Roselle, was charged with selling alcohol to two minors at Nancy’s Restaurant, 940 N. York Road, at 4:01 p.m. He was released on I-bond.

Ylli Bandula, 44, 903 S. York St., was charged with serving alcohol to two minors at Angelos, 247 N. York St., at 4:47 p.m. He was released on I-bond.

Maria Perez-Santa, 40, 3039 W. Avers, Chicago, was charged with selling alcohol to two minors at The Standard Restaurant, 116 E. Schiller St., at 5:12 p.m. She was released on I-bond.

Lizbeth Estrada, 30, 505 W. St. Charles Road, Elmhurst, was charged with serving alcohol to two minors at Chipotle, 139 N. York St., at 5:21 p.m. She was released on I-bond.

Sale of Tobacco to Minors

Mohammed Amin, 58, 515 N. West Ave., was charged with selling cigarettes to a minor at York Cigarettes, 954 N. York Road, at 4:01 p.m. He was released on bond.

Gloria Quiroga, 54, 1002 N. Boxwood Unit B, Mount Prospect, was charged with selling tobacco to a minor at DuPage Tobacco, 191 E. Butterfield, at 4:09 p.m. She was released on bond.

Mohammed Ahmed, 62, 9123 Potter Road, Des Plaines, was charged with selling tobacco to a minor at the Clark station, 168 N. Addison, at 5:10 p.m. He was released on I-bond.

Rafiq Jaka, 61, 1510 President, Glendale Heights, was charged with selling tobacco to a minor at York Cigarette Center, 573 N. York, at 4:21 p.m. He was released on I-bond.

Jae Lee, 54, 777 Royal St. George Apt. 319, Naperville, was charged with selling tobacco to a minor at Shell, 301 W. Butterfield Road, at 4:27 p.m. Lee was released on I-bond.

Daniel Gonu, 23, 576 Babcock, Elmhurst, was charged with selling tobacco to a minor at Powermart, 572 W. Lake St., at 4:35 p.m. He was released on I-bond.

Hashim Taza, 37, 3 Wheaton Center Apt. 617, Wheaton, was charged with selling tobacco to a minor at Gas Stop, 575 S. York Road, at 4:49 p.m. Taza was released on I-bond.

Joan Golden, 50, 127 Clara, Elmhurst, was charged with selling tobacco to a minor at Marathon, 260 N. York St., at 4:56 p.m. She was released on I-bond.

Abraham Pallivathukal, 67, 728 N. Geneva, Elmhurst, was charged with selling tobacco to a minor at Shell, 103 W. Third St., at 5:02 p.m. He was released on I-bond.
