Elmhurst Police Assist State Police in Capturing Man They Say Was Carrying a Loaded Weapon

Stop on Berteau happened after a chase in the early morning hours Friday.

A Country Club Hills man, who allegedly was carrying drugs and a loaded weapon while fleeing state police, was apprehended with the help of Elmhurst police at 2:34 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9.

Elmhurst police received an Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network alert that a vehicle driven by Edward L. Strong, 40, 17468 Park Lane, Country Club Hills, was headed into Elmhurst.

Elmhurst police assisted state police in stopping the vehicle at 131 N. Berteau Ave. Strong reportedly resisted arrested while he was being taken into custody. Police said they found 46 bags of individually packed cocaine and a loaded .25 caliber handgun.

He was taken to DuPage County Jail and is being held on $20,000 bond. He is charged by state police with armed violence/unlawful use of a weapon while committing a felony and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. His next court date has not yet been set.
