Elmhurst Man Charged with Four Counts of Attempted Robbery

Victims said they were approached by men with guns and knives; two juveniles referred to juvenile court.

An Elmhurst man was taken to DuPage County Jail and two juveniles have been referred to juvenile court after several people in Elmhurst reported they were approached by armed men who attempted to rob them.

At 5 p.m. Sunday, March 6,  Elmhurst Police responded to a report of an armed robbery in a residential area near Crestview Park. The four victims, all in their early 20s, reported that three young men attempted to rob them as they left the park. The offenders were reported to be armed with guns and knives. The offenders did not obtain any property and left the scene. During the investigation, it was learned that there was another attempt to rob two other citizens who ran from the offenders; those victims have yet to be identified.

The next day, officers found drugs in a vehicle they had stopped. During the course of the investigation, two of the passengers were identified as being involved in the robbery the night before, and the third offender was later identified. A handgun used in the robbery was found to be a firearm-replica pellet gun. The offenders had allegedly driven around in a 1999 brown Buick Century, looking for potential victims.
