Elmhurst Man Charged with Beating Cab Driver

Aggravated Battery

Eugene T. Leonard, 22, 211 S. Kenilworth, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery after he allegedly beat up a cab driver at 1:09 a.m. Dec. 31. Police found the victim sitting on the ground on Marion Parkway, between Palmer Drive and Kenilworth, "bleeding heavily from the face." Leonard had fled the area but was soon apprehended. The cab driver told police he had asked Leonard not to smoke in his cab, and Leonard responded by striking the driver numerous times in the face with his fist. Leonard also was charged with theft of services and disorderly conduct. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.

DUI Arrests

Fattima Cortes, 21, 643 Gunderson, Carol Stream, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police on patrol saw her urinating on the side of the road next to her blue Chevrolet Cavalier at Route 83 and Lake Street at 2:44 a.m. Dec. 30. She also was charged with having expired registration and an expired drivers license.

Ernest J. Holton, 26, 2109 S. Hull Drive, Wheaton, was arrested and charged with DUI and possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia after police pulled over his silver BMW for following too close and improper lane use at Roosevelt and Summit at 3:35 a.m. Dec. 30. Police found about 1 gram of cannabis and a glass pipe containing cannabis. He was released on bond.

Donna A. Mansuito, 49, 15 Briar St. Apt. 31, Glen Ellyn, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over her white Lincoln LS for disobeying a traffic control device at Walnut and Lake at 12:50 a.m. Dec. 31. She was released on I-bond.

Tinu V. Maathew, 26, 946 N. Virginia Lane, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with DUI after police found him passed out in his blue Toyota Camry with the motor running at his home at 4:02 a.m. Dec. 31. Police were called on a complaint of a loud stereo in the townhome parking lot. A search of the vehicle turned up an open bottle of vodka. He was released on I-bond.

Carlos A. Gonzalez, 34, 5231 W. Nelson, Chicago, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over his black Honda Civic for disobeying a traffic signal at York and North at 4:18 a.m. Dec. 31. He was released on bond.

Carolyn T. Blade, 21, 40 W. 115th St., Chicago, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over her green Pontiac Bonneville for improper lane use at Interstate 290 and Church Road at 1:10 a.m. Jan. 1. She also was charged with disobeying a traffic control device, failure to signal, defective windshield, no insurance, expired registration and one headlight. She was released on I-bond.

Baljinnyam Bold, 35, 4413 Prospect, Downers Grove, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over his silver Toyota RAV 4 for speeding at Route 83 and Lake Street at 4:42 a.m. Jan. 1. He was released on I-bond.

Bobby J. Phillips. 40, 3141 Scott, Franklin Park, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over his green Ford Gulfstream for improper lane use and violating the median at 9:53 p.m. Jan. 1 at York and Grand. He also was charged with expired registration. He was released on I-bond.
