Franklin Park Man Indicted on Charges of Unlawful Videotaping at Elmhurst Hospital

Salvador Perez is scheduled to appear in DuPage court Monday, June 24.

The man accused of videotaping women while they used a washroom at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, was indicted in DuPage County Court this week, the Daily Herald reports.

According to the paper, Salvador Perez, 49, of 2538 Sonia Ave., Franklin Park, will appear before DuPage County Judge George Bakalis on Monday; he is currently on GPS monitoring and is barred from contact with minors and from entering Elmhurst Memorial.

It is alleged that on Friday, May 17, Perez positioned his cellular phone under the sink of a unisex bathroom at the hospital. He allegedly positioned it so the camera on the phone would record the toilet area. He then activated the video record function and exited the bathroom, according to the complaint.

That same day, while a woman was using the bathroom, the cellular phone fell from beneath the sink, and the women alerted authorities.

Information from the State's Attorney's Office did not indicate the location of the bathroom where Perez allegedly recorded the victims.

"The allegations against Mr. Perez are very disturbing," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said last month. "Invading another person's privacy in such a manner will not be tolerated and will be met with the full force of the law."

Unlawful videotaping is a Class 4 Felony punishable by one to three years in prison and a $25,000 fine. Members of the public are reminded that this complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendant's guilt.
