Elmhurst Home Burglarized While Residents Slept

Neighbor's vehicle, which was parked inside a garage, also was burglarized.

Residents of a home on the 400 block of North Maple Avenue told police that when they woke up at 5 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, they discovered they had been burglarized some time during the previous night. They had gone to bed at about 11 p.m. Thursday.

The first thing they noticed when they woke up was a bottle of hot sauce that had been on the kitchen table was spilled on the floor, police said. The resident then noticed that his wallet and phone, and his wife's purse and iPad were all missing from the kitchen counter.

The residents said it was possible they had left their sliding glass door unlocked overnight. Police discovered no pry marks or signs of forced entry.
